Helen Homans Gilbert was graduated from Radcliffe College in 1936 and continued to serve and support Radcliffe throughout her life in many ways: she was trustee (1950-1972), and chairman of the Board (1955-1972), acting president (1964-1965), and active in two presidential searches. She was first woman member (1970-76), then President (1975-1976) of Harvard's Board of Overseers, and was on the steering committee of the Harvard Campaign (1980).
